The Fourth Industrial Revolution is reshaping the future of world
During the late 18th century, there was a massive change in the way people lived their daily lives. This marked a huge turning point in history and nothing has been the same. This was the dawn of the Industrial Revolution, an era when machines, factories and mass production came to the forefront of human activity. The old days of agriculture and manufacturing done at home were replaced by workers moving to factories, electricity and the introduction of the steam engine. Modern day society lives in the shadow of the Industrial Revolution. It was a huge leap forward in human civilization. But like all great leaps it took careful planning and concentrated effort. It took many great visionaries, leaders and thinkers coming together to decide how this new technology should dictate the lives of people.
It wasn’t the last Industrial Revolution though, there have been a few more since then, the most recent of which is still ongoing. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is one where technology means everything is more connected than ever with it impacting our very quality of life. From automation to augmentation and beyond, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is already starting to change everything. $15.7 trillion—that’s the global economic growth that AI will provide by 2030, according to PwC research.
The Fourth Industrial Revolution is reshaping industries, challenging existing business models, and even redefining what it means to be human. Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Blockchain, IoT and other emerging technologies are changing industries ranging from manufacturing to telecom to financial services.
World-renowned economist Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, says
“We stand on the brink of a technological revolution that will fundamentally alter the way we live, work, and relate to one another. In its scale, scope, and complexity, the transformation will be unlike anything humankind has experienced before. We do not yet know just how it will unfold, but one thing is clear: the response to it must be integrated and comprehensive, involving all stakeholders of the global polity, from the public and private sectors to academia and civil society.”
In response to unprecedented opportunities that emerging technologies present for the future potential of Oman, its economy and people, Persontyle UK had the honor to collaborate with the Higher College of Technology to organize Oman Industrial Revolution 4.0 Summit on July 8, 2018. Having hosted almost 250 delegates, which included influential technology experts, senior business leaders, distinguished officials, government representatives, students and members of academia, Oman Industrial Revolution summit received widespread praise for the intellectual quality of the presentations and the high-level networking opportunities provided.
Inspired by the positive response to the Oman Industrial Revolution 4.0 Summit, and as part of ongoing commitment to advance emerging technologies in Oman, Persontyle UK is delighted to continue partnership with Higher College of Technology to expand the scope of Oman Industrial Revolution initiative by launching Oman IR 4.0 Meetup series.
Oman IR 4.0 Meetup is envisioned as an open community platform that brings together the industry leaders, decision-makers, academic researchers, technology innovators, international and national technology experts for a strategic discussion on harnessing the power of emerging technologies.
