Dubai will host the first Global Investment in Aviation Summit, GIAS, – a major aviation conference – to be attended by the world’s 500 top aviation investors, as the UAE emerges as the region’s biggest aviation hubs.
The high-profile delegates from 40 countries will include 20 aviation ambassadors, ten knowledge partners, 200 aviation officials and 300 investors brainstorming throughout the three days.

Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects (DAEP) has introduced new projects aimed at developing the aviation industry under the umbrella of the Dubai 10X initiative.
The ‘Retractable Aircraft Cabin’ project will enable airlines to re-distribute their capacity on demand for each flight in record time while the aircraft is on the airport floor. The project provides travelers a number of options for customised airplane cabins-on-demand for entertainment and business. Another initiative, the ‘Multi-Mode Super Port’ project, the first of its kind in the world, will provide an integrated travel outlet for both air and space travel.

Passenger traffic at Dubai International (DXB) exceeded 7.9 million in January, according to the traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports today.
DXB welcomed a total of 7,960,146 passengers in January, a small reduction of 1% compared to 8,037,008 recorded in January 2017 when passenger volumes were boosted due to Chinese New Year which fell in February this year.

Dubai Airports today announced the successful completion of the world’s first Tier III certified Modular Data Centre Complex (MDCC)* at Dubai International (DXB) following a tour of the new facility by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Airports.
The project was led by Dubai Airports and delivered by Huawei, a leader in the field, in just over 400 days to coincide with UAE’s month of innovation being observed during February.

Dubai International (DXB) retained its position as the world’s number one airport for international passengers for the fourth consecutive year with annual traffic for 2017 reaching 88.2 million passengers, according to the annual traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports today.
Propelled by high traffic volumes averaging 7.35 million passengers per month throughout the year, including the record months of January, July and August when traffic breached the 8-million passenger mark, DXB’s traffic reached 88,242,099 passengers for the full year, up 5.5% compared to 83,654,250 passengers recorded during 2016. Dubai Airports, operator of the world’s number one airport for international passengers (DXB) and Travelex, one of the world’s largest currency exchange network, have this week solidified a five-year partnership which will see three additional outlet openings including the first Travelex at Dubai World Central (DWC).
The foreign exchange company, which operates in over 30 countries around the world, reports that Dubai International is home to two of the best performing stores in the world. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced global passenger traffic results for November 2017 showing continued robust demand. Total revenue passenger kilometers (RPKs) rose 8.0% compared to November 2016, the fastest growth rate in five months and up from a 7.3% year-over-year rise in October. Capacity (available seat kilometers or ASKs) increased by 6.3%, and load factor rose 1.2 percentage points to 80.2%.

The air cargo carrier’s robust performance, set against the backdrop of a resurgent global air cargo market, was underlined by the introduction of specialised customer focused air transportation solutions across a number of industry verticals and by continued investment in infrastructure.
