Expansion projects and new investments are expected to fuel growth within the UAE’s logistics sector over the next five years, according to a recent analysis by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The positive outlook is supported by expectations of strong growth in the country’s air and sea freight markets. The analysis, based on recent data from Business Monitor International, forecasts the UAE’s air freight market to expand by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.8% over the 2017-2021 period. It also showed demand within the country’s air freight market increasing at a CAGR of 8.6% between 2012 and 2016.

Passenger traffic at Dubai International (DXB) surpassed 43 million in the first half of 2017, according to the traffic report issued today by operator Dubai Airports. DXB handled a total of 43,054,268 passengers during the first half, up 6.3 per cent compared to the corresponding period in 2016 when the airport welcomed 40,507,251 passengers. Monthly traffic in June reached 6,084,674 compared to 5,857,503 during the same month last year, up 3.9 per cent. HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the president of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Dubai Air Navigation Services (dans), announced the latest air traffic movement figures for the month of June, which reveal a total volume of 41,589 movements in Dubai & Northern Emirates’ airspace.
According to the air traffic movement figures report released by Dubai Air Navigation services, a total of 31,243 movements have been registered at Dubai International Airport (DXB), with, 15,491 movements in arrivals and 15,515 in departures. Emirates has won World’s Best Inflight Entertainment award for a record 13th year at the prestigious Skytrax World Airline Awards 2017. The airline also picked up the award for Best First Class Comfort Amenities.
The Skytrax World Airline Awards are considered a global benchmark of airline excellence. This year’s results were decided by 19.8 million customers across 105 countries. The survey reviewed over 320 airlines from August 2016 to May 2017.
